A global team of KPMG Corporate Finance professionals from KPMG Corporate Finance LLC in the U.S. and KPMG Deal Advisory in Slovakia (collectively, KPMG) are pleased to announce the sale of Capturing Reality s.r.o. (Capturing Reality or the Company) to Epic Games, Inc. (Epic Games). The opportunity was originated by KPMG Slovakia, with KPMG Corporate Finance LLC assisting with the outreach to, and management of discussions with, U.S. counterparties. The key to the success of the transaction was KPMG’s global network of corporate finance professionals, relationships with key potential buyers, and in‑depth knowledge of the software industry.
About Capturing Reality
Capturing Reality is a Slovakia-based developer of a world-leading photogrammetry software solution that is able to reconstruct objects and scenes of any size from images and/or laser scans, yielding 3D scans with unparalleled accuracy and mesh quality at speeds many times faster than competing software. Epic Games is the U.S.-based video game developer behind the Fortnite game and the Unreal Engine platform for developers. The acquisition of Capturing Reality will enhance the Unreal Engine platform and will establish a development hub for Epic Games in Slovakia, while helping the Reality Capture product to reach much wider audience through Epic Games’ network of content creators.
